PRESERVE
PROTECT
PROMOTE

Bringing our collective history back to life.

VISION

We believe in the value of working-class history, for it is the lives and actions of everyday people that made our communities into places we value, and they deserve to be remembered.

At Folklore Research, we are passionate about helping small museums and cultural organisations not only preserve their unique local heritage, but to share it with the world. We believe that it is essential to learn about our past and understand our traditions if we want to build a bright future, and that there is no time like the present to start preserving, protecting and promoting the story of who we are and how we came to be.

WHY FOLKLORE RESEARCH

A different approach. We are a small boutique historical research company, passionate about helping small and rural communities not only preserve their unique local heritage, but to share it to the world.

Founded in 2022 by sisters Gemma Noon and Ceri Watson-Smith, Folklore Research set out to learn about the amazing history of Canada.  Our motto:  Preserve Protect Promote.

Family Photos in B&W

Our collective history is complicated. It can be glorious and it can be heartbreaking, often at the same moment. There is good, bad and ugly in every community’s past, and it can be difficult to acknowledge that. What should never happen, however, is for our history to be forgotten.
